Allowing the result of what we did to determine who we are may lead to the following problems:

Undermines confidence & self-esteem, stifles creativity, and prevent us from dreaming BIG

  • Over-emphasis on materialistic definition of success.

Too much emphasis on materialistic gain will easily lead to "greed" and unscrupulous means to achieve goals. It would minimize our chance of enjoying our journey, and prevent us from being the best we can be.

  • Over-emphasis on using results for our definition of success.

In many cases, the result is dependent on “external factors” (e.g., other people) that can be difficult to control.  One may unknowingly put the control of one’s own happiness in the hands of “external factors”.  Over dependence on others’ approval is a major source of our miseries.

  • With undesirable results we may consider ourselves as failures.

  • Difficult for a student to face himself and his family.

  • Difficult for an entrepreneur to sustain the down time.

  • Parents/teachers may mistakenly encourage their children/students by over-focusing on their results.

Exerting unnecessary negative pressure while promoting the wrong values

These problems effectively turn into an insidious shackle for the individuals/families/companies and for a nation.
